As I was walking along the river banks I came upon an old covered bridge that had been standing for a long time which had been made in the late 1800's.How can a covered bridge get constructed and last for that long of a period of time? They didn't even have the tools like we have today. Imagine working from sun up to sun down. These days kids and some people would complain about those long hours, but they didn't as they had to feed their family. They also worked in the field to get the crops ready for harvest, even their wives got in and helped sometimes. I wish we would go back to those days but I can see it now I'm to tired or it's too hot out side, can I go and play.

The old covered bridges are such a beautiful american treasure. I often long for simpler times, though the hardships they went through were something I don't want to experience. Thank you for writing about the bridges. I love the painting you posted too! -- debbie
